Brian Gilby’s report was just a brief snapshot of the flying done by all those who were there over the long weekend. It was great that Erich Wittstock CFI of Warwick was able to set tasks daily and really stretch everybody’s thinking of what they should be doing with their flying, no local flying out here, set a task and do it!. John Tucker with no firm plans for what he wanted to do and ended up doing his Silver C distance in the Astir!
Traces were uploaded to the OLC website and were reviewed during the evening debrief. It was a good way to see how others flew the various tasks and what was done well or could be done better – I must fly faster!. Everyone went away from the long weekend with a better grasp of cross country flying and the weather on the Darling Downs lived up to its world class reputation. It was clear to all who attended that both Boonah and Warwick clubs should get together again to organise another long weekends flying in the future.
