Saturday and Sunday saw two full days of fantastic soaring in conditions normally reserved for mid week office hours, with everyone able to easily enjoy extended flight times and thermals 6 to 10 knots wherever you went.
Saturday was the first day of the trial period for the new booking arrangement for ZAJ. And it was a great success
Steve Thomas booked ZAJ for 1030 and by 1045 was well on his way cross country to Gatton for a 50km flight. Three hours and a bit later he was back in Boonah. Rob Izatt and Gavin Foster took the same path in NTT and made it all the way there and back without a re-light.
Sunday was every bit as good as Saturday with low tows and high thermals however no one ventured too far from home. This was a day for “soaring with the eagles” or the birds many of us call eagles but more on bird species later. One of the special Boonah treats is getting up close and personal in the same thermal as the local birdlife.
