Saturday saw a tremendous turnout of the membership and the soaring conditions matched the turnout. They started off good and just kept getting better throughout the day. A great sign of a good day was to see no planes on the ground and none left in the hangar. Gliding gives us all thrills and pleasure. One of the pleasures is taking a friend for a fly, so how much better could it be than to take your eighth grade son for his first trip in a glider. Well that was Gavin Foster and his son Ty last Saturday see the photo attached of a happy dad and a proud son. Ken Window spent the day in the Grob and is now endorsed to fly it alone. Gary Mc Mahon who regularly tows for Jondaryn was able to step in for Tony Sorensen and fly the Pawnee. His first time flying the tug for Boonah he did enjoy the flying in our hilly surroundings. Thanks for the great job Gary hope to see you back here soon. With Gary Wilkins and John Stockwell instructing and Kylie as duty pilot the day went very well.
Sunday was a bit of later start with the tug having to have its oil changed but then we were off to another day of great soaring. Rupert Moinihan–Bain has some visitors due and would like to take them gliding. He is trying his hardest to achieve his C certificate and passenger rating before they arrive. Sunday he did the outlanding part of his C. Pascal Beck a visiting Swiss pilot came for a fly at Boonah, After a couple of check flights he was flying solo, local soaring in the ASK21. Gliding is a truly international sport where visitors are welcomed. I have been welcomed at clubs in Holland and UK it is nice to see our club returning the welcome to our international visitors. John Zoanetti went to the club just to do a bit of work on his plane, but when he saw that we were one instructor short for the day he was soon in the instructors seat and flying.
