Boonah Blog
Weekend 25/26 October 2008
Great soaring conditions both days. Scott Johnson managed 4hrs 59m in Laurie Simpkin's Fokka on Saturday when we were sure he was in a paddock. Sunday, Laurie tried to out do him and had a real good shot at it. The highlight of the weekend was Mike McLachlan and Denis Nolan's flight. It was a check flight in the K13 which ended with a phone call and a "retrieve" from a carrot patch 200 m from the end of the runway. As always - better safe than sorry. All good fun and practice at derig/rig of the K13. Also on Sunday the sea breeze kicked in at about 1530 and the ridge worked really well. Son Doug and I in NTT skimmed the ridge in formation with Liam Donald in the Clubbie and then with Mike and Graham Kohr in GSK. It is "the season" for soaring at Boonah.
