Last Friday Blues!

Last Friday of September (Flying Friday) saw quite a few hopeful soaring pilots gather at Boonah in hope of a good day with lots of lift – and they were not disappointed.  Lots of training flights culminated in Dylan going solo (congratulations Dylan, that’s a great effort) and just as everyone thought that Rhys had found another paddock, he returned with a time of 5 hours 28 minutes in the Clubbie, which beats the previous best since 2008 of 2 hours 17 minutes by a long way.  For those like Rhys who managed to work up to 6000ft near Mt Barney there was the joy of wave up to the 8500 ft limit.  A total of 21 flights was the busiest flying Friday of recent times and now that the weather is hopefully improving lets hope for even better.  By the way, I’m only blue because I wasn’t there.
