Wave is on!!
No 'lennies' but the wave was definitely 'on' yesterday. Very calm morning and clear blue skies. Temperature didn't reach the 19 predicted but there was still some reasonably good thermal which started late morning which allowed contact with the wave. lower level wind increased later There was also considerable ridge lift of our local hill which was still a good 2 to 4 kts at nearly 3000ft at 1700hrs. Nigel Arnot and new member Andrew Walker spent 3 hours 43 min in the Duo cruising the various lines of wave at and above 6000ft. Not bad for a first glider flight! Yesterday also saw Paul Dahl and Dennis Bubke "go solo", Paul in the 21 and Denis in the 13. Congratulations guys. Your gliding adventure has just started! Remember these longer flights at altitude can get cold this time of year.
