May
The last two weeks have been some of our best gliding weather all year. After some Instructor training on Friday 8/5 Saturday was a big day at the club with over 30 launches and good lift to 6000ft with some very strong thermals reported. Sunday was similar and my last flight was a Grand Tour AEF in NTT. I wasn't that keen on doing the flight as I imagined we would be running on the engine several times. We climbed to 4000ft on the engine, shutdown and headed out to Moogerah Dam and arrived at about 3000ft and straight into a 4kt average to 6000ft and looking down a cloud street over Mt Barney and continuing. There was good energy all the way down the street and we arrived over Mt Barney at the same height without a turn. Really quite spectacular and fun. My passenger was amazed and delighted. Not bad for 3 in the afternoon and the middle of May.
